Dear Colleague:
The exit examination is a top priority for the Malta College of Family Doctors. Dr Leonard Callus was appointed President-Elect on October 7, 2024, and was promptly briefed on the significance of this examination and the necessity to begin preparations. By appointing a President-Elect before selecting the other Council members, a smoother transition period is ensured. While support has always been available, it is vital for the President to be able to assemble their own team.
On April 3, 2025, President-Elect Leonard Callus submitted his resignation.
The term of the outgoing Council will conclude on April 20, 2025. Efforts are currently underway to recruit new members for both the incoming Council and the assessment team. It is important to acknowledge that the exit examination entails significant responsibilities and must uphold consistent standards.
Some members from previous assessment teams have opted not to participate in this year’s examination, citing unprofessional behaviour exhibited by certain trainers and/or trainees, which has occasionally escalated to harassment.
The Council is committed to keeping trainees informed about the upcoming exam session and remains dedicated to delivering a high-quality examination as swiftly as possible while simultaneously providing the necessary support to a new assessment team.
Kind regards,
MCFD Council
