Referral procedure for patients suspected of having pelvis/hip fracture

Dear Colleagues:

The Radiology Department points out that patients with suspected pelvis/hip fracture may need hospitalization and eventually surgery.

Therefore, it argues that is an unsafe practice, time-consuming and an extra unnecessary inconvenience for both patient and medical practitioners,  to refer patients in such conditions to Primary Care Clinics when a ‘fast track’ system is in practice at the A&E.

Attached are relevant information on management of hip fractures and on the fast-track process.
