Dear Madam/Sir,
I am reaching out to inform you of a great training opportunity for medical staff residing in Malta. On Tuesday 31 October 2023 between 9 am and 5 pm, the Genito-urinary Clinic in collaboration with the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Unit of the Ministry of Health of Malta will host the ‘Reach Out’ Training, a 1 day training focusing on providing health care services to key populations, namely people at higher risk of contracting TB/HIV/STIs/Hepatitis such as migrants, refugees and displaced people, sex workers and people who inject drugs.
The Reach Out Project- Integrated Community Healthcare and Out-reach Services for Hard-To-Reach Populations is an EU project funded by EU4Health Programme. The project is spearheaded by Italian NGO Intersos in collaboration with the Ministry of Health of Malta and Praksis, a Greek NGO working on humanitarian and medical issues. The project aims to improve global health outcomes for migrants and disadvantaged local populations in Italy, Malta, and Greece by providing prevention, early detection, and access to care for various infections which include STIs, TB, HIV, Hepatitis B and C.
The Reach Out Training consists of both generic and medical modules aimed at supporting medical professionals working with migrants and other key populations to better identify and address their patients’ needs. Particular attention shall be devoted to dealing with complex cases where experiences of migration, trauma, sexual and gender-based violence and substance abuse, overlap and intersect. Please refer to the attached flyer for a detailed program overview.
The training is open to any medical professional residing in Malta and is offered free of charge with lunch and coffee breaks included. The training will take place at the Grand Hotel Excelsior in Valletta – further information on venue and logistics will be provided a few days prior to the event.
Registration is mandatory – you can register by clicking on this link

Best wishes,
