Dear colleague
Private family doctors who have registered to administer COVID-19 vaccines through the private doctor immunisation option should be aware that a national registration portal through SMS and website (vaccin.gov.mt) was launched by the Deputy Prime Minister at a press conference on Saturday 10th April. As part of the launch, the option of receiving the vaccine at a GP clinic was highlighted and interested persons were advised to contact their GP of choice to make this preference known.
You may therefore be contacted by patients enquiring about this possibility. At this stage all you need to do is to take the patients’ details, especially their ID card number. As mentioned, vaccinations given by GPs will work in synch with the national campaign. Therefore, the first group of patients to be vaccinated will be those aged 50 years and older. Furthermore, as stated in the expression of interest, requests for vaccines will be accepted in groups of 11 patients.
Consultations were done with, and feedback received from, the Association of Private Family Doctors since the association already has experience in the logistics of past influenza vaccination campaigns by private doctors
The online request form through which the private family doctor will be able to apply for vaccine supply is expected to be running by the time when appointments will start to be sent to the >50s.
