TRANSFORMRaising standards of health care service provision for LGBTIQ people

The project TRANSFORM: Raising standards of healthcare service provision for LGBTIQ people is an EU co-funded project under the Rights, Equality and Citizenship (REC) programme of the EU and runs from 2019 to 2021. Its main aim is to address inequalities in access to healthcare services for LGBTIQ persons and build the capacity of service providers within the health sector to address the specific health needs of LGBTIQ persons.

Through this project, training will be provided to those working in healthcare settings, with participants varying from nurses, GPs, customer care officers in hospitals, emergency department personnel as well as the Multi-disciplinary Team that provide more specialised care to trans people. The project also incorporates several awareness-raising campaigns aimed at LGBTIQ people as well as the general public. This project is being implemented in collaboration with the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister – Ministry for Health, the Malta College of Family Doctors (MCFD), the Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses (MUMN), Gent University Hospital, ILGA Europe and Transgender Europe.
