Dear All,
Good evening. A nation-wide study is currently underway to assess the feasibility and potential impact of implementing an Arts on Prescription model within the local healthcare system. I am getting in touch as you, as healthcare professionals, are key stakeholders and should be kept informed and given the opportunity to share your perspectives.
Successful local implementation will require a framework that supports collaboration between the healthcare and arts sectors. At this early stage, input from all key stakeholders including yours is vital to guiding the research and development process.
Your Involvement
I invite you to review the evidence-based leaflet and complete a brief 5-minute survey.

I would also be grateful if you could share this study widely as the more feedback and insights we can gather, the better. Should you alternatively like to have a brief chat with us, perhaps about current work within the community or your potential contributions within this framework, we’d be more than happy to organise it.
What is Arts on Prescription?
This model enables healthcare professionals to refer patients to cultural activities and structured arts programmes as a complementary approach to supporting well-being. Within the arts and cultural sector, such benefits are clearly evident, with participants regularly demonstrating improved well-being and personal development as a result of engaging in programmes, workshops, events, performances, exhibitions, and concerts. You may have experienced it yourself or observed it in others. Some know how to get involved, some others need some nudging from a professional who they trust has their wellbeing at heart.
Evidence of Benefits
Arts on Prescription is now underpinned by a substantial evidence base demonstrating its positive effects on health and well-being. Research consistently supports its value as a complementary component of healthcare, contributing to its adoption across various systems internationally. Having worked both in community pharmacy and as a workshop leader, I have witnessed this first-hand. More evidence in the leaflet.
