March 3rd is recognized as World Birth Defects Day with the aim being to raise awareness, mobilise resources and continue increasing commitment to improve birth defects surveillance, research, prevention and care.

The Malta Congenital Anomalies Registry (MCAR), within the Directorate for Health Information and Research carries out continued registration and surveillance of congenital anomalies in Malta and is releasing a Fact Sheet on this day – Shining a Light on Limb Defects, which may be found here.
