Research: awareness of paediatric hearing loss across medical, educational and social settings in Malta

Good afternoon,

I am a Masters of Science in Audiology student, presently carrying out research as part of my final year dissertation on awareness of paediatric hearing loss across medical, educational and social settings in Malta.

The aim of the research study is to study the knowledge, attitude and awareness of general practitioners in Malta and to investigate the awareness of managing and preventing paediatric hearing loss and its long term effects.

Enhanced awareness of the signs and causes of paediatric hearing loss as well as the behavioural, developmental and psychosocial limitations is essential to increase timely detection and appropriate intervention. Awareness from the child’s significant others and other professionals who surround the child is crucial.

Given the valuable insights general practitioners can offer, I would be extremely grateful if you would consider distributing my brief questionnaire to your members. The questionnaire is online and takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete. Kindly do not hesitate to inform me should you require further details from my end or from my supervisor Dr Roberta Buhagiar.

Thank you very much for considering this request, and I look forward to the opportunity to collaborate.

Kind regards,

Joanne Camilleri
