SOUTH ASIA REGION CONFERENCE: The first WONCA Regional Conference of the year took place in Sri Lanka, 3-5 May 2024. Redefining Family Medicine: The WONCA Core Values Project, led by Dr. Anna Stavdal, aims to globally brainstorm and redefine core values in family medicine. As the first region to organize a conference, South Asia held a workshop to raise awareness and discuss culturally relevant values, with enthusiastic feedback from attendees guiding future steps. WP on Research: A workshop led by Drs. Abdul Jalil Khan, Hina Jawaid, and Sankha Randenikumara, combined education on research fundamentals with discussions on overcoming challenges to inspire family physicians in low and middle-income countries to engage in primary care research.
Women in Family Medicine: The WONCA Working Party on Women and Family Medicine has been making waves across five regions, including South Asia.
