The Association of Emergency Physicians of Malta is delighted to invite you to the upcoming conference LIFE Beyond the resus room which is being held on the 13th of April at the Intercontinental Hotel, St Julian’s from 8:45 – 16:30.
The conference will look into:
1. Outcomes of out of Hospital Cardiac Arrest patients
2. The science behind decisions regarding escalation of care for critically sick patients – The session will include a scenario based debate between Emergency Physicians and Intensivists.
3. An overview of the Ethical Principles related to critically sick patients – This session will be delivered by by Rev Ray Zammit who Chairs the Professional Ethics Committee in the University of Malta.
4. The Psychological challenges of healthcare providers when dealing with acutely sick patients within an overwhelmed health care system.. This session will be delivered by Ms Andrea Walraven Thissen who is an adviser to EU policy makers for the well being of health care workers.
The day will include several workshops – (Each participant will be asked to select between Track A or Track B after registration)
Track A
Incivility at the workplace – This interactive session will be delivered by Mr Mario Cassar who is an executive Couch. This session will allow participants to focus on dealing with improper behavior at the workplace.
AND
Looking after ourselves – This workshop will be delivered by Dr Andrea Walraven Thissen and will focus on methods that front liner health care workers can adopt to tackle the psychological impact left by our work related experiences. Dr Walraven is the adviser to the EU policy makers for the well being of health care workers.
Track B
Workshop 3 – Snapshots from the resus room – is being recommended for young medical staff (prior to specialty training) and will allow participants to give feedback and discuss technical and the non-technical skills needed within the resus room. An award will be given to the members of the best performing team
