Updated – Sexual Health Conference

Dear family doctor:

A Sexual Health conference will be held on 14th October 2022, at Dolmen Hotel , St. Paul`s Bay. This conference is aimed for healthcare professionals and other stakeholders including mental health practitioners, social workers and NGOs to keep abreast with local and international trends and behavior on HIV and other STIS. Various topics will be covered by local and international speakers focusing on epidemiology, testing, chemsex, new HIV treatments, PrEP and PEP.
 
Confirmed Keynote speakers are:
  • Dr Tristan Barber, a London Consultant Physician and healthcare services professional with expertise spanning HIV and sexual/reproductive health (genitourinary medicine). Dr Barber is a national and international leader in the HIV field who drives clinical improvements whilst always championing patient centred and holistic care, collaborative and shared decision making and instilling a culture of exceptional treatment. He is clinical lead for a bespoke service focused on HIV, frailty and ageing; and
  • Michael O’Dea, a Health and Medical psychologists who currently coodinates the National Chemsex Service of Terrence Higgins Trust, a British charity that campaigns about and provides services relating to HIV and sexual health. Mr O’Dea is interested in innovative sexual health programs, gbMSM wellbeing, HIV advocacy, stigma experiences and processes, health promotion, and therapeutic interventions.

This event is being organized by Sexual Health Malta which forms part of the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Directorate together with HIV Malta, a project within the Malta LGBTIQ Rights Movement.
Free parking and a networking session that includes lunch finger food and drinks will be offered to all attendees.
