Please find attached guidelines drawn up by the Public Health COVID-19 team in consultation with paediatricians and family doctors for the management of sick children with COVID-19 -like or Influenza-like symptoms.
This document should serve as a guide for medical practitioners when treating sick children in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. It covers advice on when to ask for a PCR test, and on the certification of children when sick and on the possible shielding for children who require it.
Please bear in mind that local experience of children attending school is limited and so these guidelines may be amended and adapted as we gain more insight and evidence on how best to manage sick school children in Malta.
